In 2017, we started working with AFS Formwork to provide them with our shop drawing and estimating services, supporting them in reducing the most time-consuming phase of their project cycle. AFS Formwork is a leading provider of permanent formwork systems for load-bearing structural walls in the construction industry. As a result of the ongoing collaboration, UTO provided support to AFS in reducing the most time-consuming phase of their project cycle.

We worked closely with AFS Formwork to determine their unique requirements and the obstacles that were impeding their productivity. Shop drawing activities like exporting schedules for manufacturing were found to be tedious and error-prone when done manually. This was a common challenge faced by many companies in the construction industry. To tackle this issue, UTO programmed an automated system to attach AFS’s various add-ons, including end caps, T-junctions, floor tracks, rebates, reinforcement, glue, screws, and corner pieces, using a customized toolbox.

Each component was assigned a unique ID in the software, which was then exported into a manufacturing schedule that factory workers could easily understand and use to assemble each panel.
